Preparing to Joust

It's been a busy couple of weeks. The Lysts of Castleton, our biggest equestrian event of the year, was this past weekend, and Foxfire and I had a lot to do to get ready for it. Foxfire had been preparing himself and Ziggy to compete in the joust.

As part of preparing for Lysts, our friend SH hosted a jousting clinic at the GA Memorial Arena with Jeffrey Hedgecock of Knight School. Quite a few people showed up for the clinic.

And I took quite a few pictures. The best ones are posted in my Jousting Clinic April 2010 album. Both Foxfire and Ziggy did very well during the clinic. Jeff gave Foxfire some very good pointers and was very complimentary to both my husband and his horse.

For now, Foxfire is using a modern eventing vest since he is still working on making/acquiring all the proper armor.

Unlike our friend SH...

...who is truly a knight in shining armor.

But even without all the fancy gear, Foxfire had a great time, and it looked like everyone else did too. By the end of the clinic everyone was able to joust to some extent.

That's Foxfire on the right.

I'm still working on editing the pictures that I took at Lysts, I should have another post up soon. Till then, I hope you enjoy the Jousting Clinic pictures.
